Server Rules & City Laws [Updated 10/13/2010]

These are the rules of the N/U Role Play Server.

General Rules:

• No Hacking

• No CP/Racist/Homophobic/Gay Sex sprays

• No Racism

• No Mic Spam

• (NEW) No Using Mic If Under 15

Server Specific Rules:

• New Life Rule
  If you die, you don't remember who killed you, even if they took your stuff. If you killed someone, you can't just kill them again for no reason.

• No Random Killing
  This isn't Death Match. Kill only with a reason. You can be banned for excessive RP DM.

• Don't Rage Quit for Car Theft
  Don't disconnect just because your car got stolen. Go find it or pay the ransom if offered.

• No Random Raids
  Don't raid people's rooms just because you saw the door was locked. Raid with a reason.

• Don't exploit map glitches.
  Do not, under any circumstances, go outside or under the map. It is not complete yet, so if you find a glitch let us know about it -- don't exploit it.

• Do not abuse the demote command.
  Only demote if the player is breaking rules or acting like an idiot. Don't demote just because you don't like somebody.

• Obey City Lockdown
  If you get killed for ignoring Lockdown, when you respawn go directly to an apartment or home. If you don't and you continue fighting you can be banned for an hour.

• Do not go AFK as mayor or after spawning contraband.
  If you are caught doing this, you will be kicked, and in extreme cases you can have your money and bank account reset.

• No Random Assassinations
  You can assassinate the mayor, but if it is for no reason you can be banned.

• Do not lock players in a place they cannot escape from.
  The exception to this is the City Hall Jail or if you have legitimately taken someone hostage.

• No Re-Warranting
  If someone escapes arrest and their warrant expires, the mayor can't re-issue the warrant unless the player commits a new crime.

• Do not abuse Handcuffing
  Do not put handcuffs on a player for no reason. Cuffing people and then leaving them to stay cuffed is also against the rules.

• No Excessive Scams
  Scamming is allowed but it can't be for more than $10,000.00 because it sucks. You may never scam someone for a car. Also, you can scam for weapons but only one at a time.

• No Prop Killing
  You may not use the gravity gun to kill people with props. You will be banned for this on sight. Don't even bring props outside.

There are also city laws. The cops get to enforce the law of the city, and the Mayor gets to set some of the laws. If the laws are too onerous, maybe the mayor will be assassinated, but whatever. Here's laws the cops can always enforce:

City Laws:

• No Murder

• No Possession of Contraband

• No Parking on the Street

• No Scamming (Cops arrest even if amount is low)

• (NEW) Don't drive a white Police Car as T

• (NEW) Don't use Police Car siren as T

Those laws are always in effect. Other laws the city Govt. can try to enforce might look like the following:
- Citizens can only carry pistols or knives, no 2-handed weapons.
- No weapon selling
- City Lockdown (If crime is too high the Mayor can call a lockdown and everyone has to go home or cops will fuck them up.)
- No speeding inside the town


Right now the only real ways cops can enforce the law is by killing criminals, or pulling guns out and yelling at people to freeze or be shot. But this should not be abused by the cops. Also I might make it so cops can get a search warrant to break into your home. But like if there's a weapon restriction law, then cops could tell you to drop your gun or something if they wanted, or they'll shoot you.

Well natalyaAF has asked me to post the rules and laws i found so here there are
1. Do not spam/propblock/prop shield/prop surf/prop kill.
2. Do not, under any circumstances, go outside or under the map.
3. Do not beg other players for loans/money.
4. Do not break laws just to get attention from the cops.
5. Do not kill other players with your cars.
6. Do not abuse the advert system (i.e saying "/advert LOLOL FAIL")
7. Metagaming is only allowed for the information displayed above your head or on dooors.
If you are a Police Officer, you cannot use the information to constantly arrest or kill those people.
8. Do not respond to RP reports that are said in ooc, as that would be metagaming too.
9. Do not kill other players for not reason but your own entertainment. (RDM)
10.Do not break New Life Rule ( NLR). NLR is enforced as your last lives, if you interfere with your past lives.(killing cops that just killed you or killing other org members or going back to help your friends.IF you wish to wait near the place you died you can but no to interfere.
11.Do not excessively run around not roleplaying at all. (Running around on the main roads, jumping on cars,hitting random cars with bats, ect.)
12.DO not go around punching people randomly(punchwhoring).
13. Do not randomly demote someone as mayor or demote someone so your friend can take the spot for the new job opening. Doing so will get you blacklisted from mayor.
14.Do not request a warrant for a made up reason.(mayors need to ask for proof)
15.Do not repeatedly unlock cars just so you can hear the car alarm go off.
16. Do not spam the /class so you can get a spot right away.
17.As a goverment emplyee, you must do your job correctly and well, or you will be demoted or blacklisted.
18. Do not lock a door after a player has lockpicked it intill him and his crew is dead.(lockspamming)
19.Do not go afk as mayor just for the paycheck or you will be blacklisted.
20. Do not lock players into your place in which they cannot escape from. If it is a hostage situation fine, but do not simply lock a player in a room and leave.
21.Do not buy doors/property that which you do not tend to use.
22.You may kill the mayor and not charge for RDM. But the acual task of the assassination MUST be roleplayed. simply walking up and shotting him WILL get you banned.
23.Do not rejoin to avoid jail time if cought doing so will get you banned.
24.NO Anti- AFK scripts of any kind( example +left and +forward into consol)
25. Being a general idiot or "faggot" or direspecting or trying to hack into the server will most definely get you banned

yeah thats a very good idea. I would say monter everyone that goes into the server and see if they act and are kind to the new players and try and help them out much as possible. Something of that sort

can you post these to the motd nat? had a problem the other day with someone just killing everyone for the hell of it. like it was dm and when I told him that killing without a reason was not allowed... he came back with "I dont see any rules like that" so I spent the next 20 minutes trying to direct him to this thread and explain shit to him.

I want to look at doing this some time next week. This is finals week for me so I'm kind busy and I don't know when I would be able to do it. But before we have the meeting I need to update the rules and stuff, which I'll try to work on right now.

Question: If the Rogues/Renegades take over Mayor's office are they allowed to sit in rooms wait and just wait for us to spawn and find them and kill them

Specifically: they are not camping the spawn rooms, they are just sitting in other rooms (besides the main lobby) waiting for gov'ts to open them up and they open fire...
