Idea for the ZM server.

Ok, I know I personally haven't been on the ZM server much in the past while, but this idea I am about to suggest relates to the fixing of that problem, for me and many others. The server has gotten sort of boring, The maps are old, it just doesn't have the same attraction it used to. Activeness and population has gone down on the server lately, and this is my suggestion as to how to possibly fix it up.

Now, The server has many maps on it, but only a few on the RTV list. And many of the maps on the RTV list, are fairly boring [I know I'm not the only one feeling this]. My idea is to change the list of maps to vote on within the RTV every month or two. This could make the server feel fresh and more enjoyable. I'm not sure how much trouble this might be to do, but perhaps someone would be willing to try this out?

Aswell, Juu.MF.Juu, Rey and I believe that Natalya should possibly be given the chance for senior admin on the ZM. She knows allot about mapping, she cares about N/U, she's active, and depending on whether or not she's willing to put the time into it, I think she would be willing to help out with adding maps and possibly changing around the RTV.

These are just suggestions that could really help the server. Maps are too overplayed, and I just think Natalya could help these problems out.

Ok Juu suggested the senior admin thing, He said it might not actually be called senoir admin, but like it gives you the ability to add maps, perma ban, change server settings, etc.

I agree with dark we need to get this server populated again, and having Nat as a "Senior Admin" couldn't hurt anything.

i agree aswell, i just want new maps and from what ive heard sio doesnt add alot so the server loses ppl to otherservers with VARIETY

well ill put this out there so you guys know. about 8 months ago i tried changing up the server (ie:adding maps, adding the newest build of zombiemod and so on).... i got blasted by all the regulars for the work i did (via xfire, pm, and the forums to which 90% of the regulars left anyway) and vowed from that day that i would not spend a quarter of the time i used to (which was damn near every other day) working on a server where no one appreciated the work i was trying to do which would make it a bit more exciting.

so there you have it... i lost my will to put in the labor that was needed.

=/ I'm sorry to hear that those regulars were asshats to you sios. People should be thankful to have someone trying to make the server more enjoyable for those who play on it, and should be patient to have things worked out, and reverted back to previous ways if that is needed. For me, I would be completely open for trying out anything new on the ZM server, if it would possibly make it more enjoyable, as long as the player's input would be accepted in helping shape how the server would change / gain or loose.

I agree with Dark, we do need new maps on the RTV list. That is one reason i quit playing for awhile because the maps got overplayed and evryone knew the "secrets" to the map which made it extremely boring cause evryone went to the same place EVERY single round :/

Also, to Sios' credit, he did recently like a week ago put up 4 new maps. Maybe y'all should get in the servers and check them out? As for RTV, well, I never have to RTV so I'm not familiar with this problem... I thought on nominate you could choose like any map we still have.

Now a lot of the maps were taken off rotation but are still floating around on the server, so if one of us admins is in there you can tell us to switch it to said map. Here is a total list of the maps on ZM:

That's like 26 maps. (Excluding deleris because it crashes.) Maybe some of the maps are old like westside cali and omi facility, but those two are classics and people still like them. However, N/U is always needs more mappers so if you want to get skills at mapping, try remaking one of our older maps. Do a good job and we might put it up. If you want it play-tested before putting it up on N/U talk to me and I know who can do it for you so you don't waste Sios' time uploading crap maps like I did with all the bad versions of maps I made. Sorry Sios!!

And as to the maps, I just found out today that more maps were added recently. Lul. Tyvm for listing the maps that the server has. I know that we can ask the admin to change it if there is one on, but having the RTV/nominate updated with some of the funner, newer maps [or just an occasional change of the RTV/nominate list] will make it possible for everyone [including those who don't communicate ingame] to vote on the map to switch to. I'll post tomorrow after school the list of maps that you are able to nominate/RTV on.

Yes its a good idea, but we have had these conversations and problems before. We dealt with these by adding new maps, re-enervating some old good ones, but no one has really given admins the reconciliation they deserve. We tried as players, to make the server popular over the months, but it just did not happen. It began to cause more problems then actual progress as siosios stated. We have tried everything to get more people and it did work, but then some regulars (as I) just got bored of it again. We never said anything about how much improved the server has gotten. But putting Nat as an admin could be a good thing in return. As siosios stated, he does not often play as much as many other admins. But he has things to worry about besides just this server. Nat has always been on and listens to the players. She knows everything about the server, and what players need to find excitement and want to come back for more. But that is just my opinion.
