    Default Poetry and self-writings

Hey all, this is a thread to post any poetry you have written yourself or any poems you really like from other poets. As long as it's poetry or some sort of self-writing, post it here, share it with us, don't be shy! I'll share one of my own poems with you all.

    ~Living Memories~

Imagine if I was given one moment,
just a single slice of my past.
I could hold it close forever,
and that moment would always last.

I'd put the moment in a safe,
    within my hearts abode.
I could open it when I wanted,
and only I would know the code.

I could choose a time of laughing,
a time of happiness and fun.
I could choose a time that tried me,
    through everything I've done.

I sat and thought about what moment,
    would always make me smile.
One that would always push me,
    to walk that extra mile.

If I'm feeling sad and low,
if I'm struggling with what to do.
I can go and open my little safe,
    and watch my moment through.

There are moments I can think of,
that would lift my spirits everytime.
The moments when you picked me up,
when the road was hard to climb.

For me to only pick one moment,
    to cherish, save and keep,
    Is proving really difficult,
as I've gathered up a heap!

I've dug deep inside my heart,
found the safe and looked inside,
there was room for lots of moments,
in fact hundreds if I tried.

I'm building my own little library,
    embedded in my heart,
for all the moments spent with you,
    before you had to part.

I can open it up whenever I like,
pick a moment and watch it through,
My little library acts as a promise,
    I'll never ever forget you

Haha thanks. It's good to write poetry. It really helps you learn more about yourself. I didn't think I was a good poet until just a couple years ago when I started sharing them with other people. Never a single bit of negative feedback or criticism. I even showed one to my AP Literature teacher when I was a senior in high school and she thought it could pass for professional work. So from that point on I developed a passion for writing poetry and have written many to this day. I'm eager to see your poetry and other peoples as well. =)

    ~Miracles in the Flesh~

A smile can hold so much meaning.
A frown can bring down everything.
I watched from the darkness for so long,
But eventually realized it was so very wrong.

My eyes hold all the answers for you,
Bathed in moonlight they shine like new.
But do you really know how I feel?
How much I really need to heal?

There is a smile of a pure heart,
Do you know where mine will start?
The mask I wore for so long falls down
And you finally see me, the saddest frown.

    Suddenly everything makes sense,
My eyes show the pain, it is intense.
The pressure became too great you see,
For so long my silence was key.

It's too late now, this is real, this is me.
Accept me or reject me, I can live capably.
Take my hand, please be my friend,
Or push me down and hate me till the very end.

With or without you, I can still get by,
I stood in the dark for too long, I am no longer shy.
Friends or not, I have someone special, she is amazing.
If I had to describe her in two words, it'd be "Life saving."

So you see the real me in my eyes and in my frown,
I quickly smile, to hide how much I've been put down.
You'd never know the difference if I hadn't shown you,
But just in case you didn't know, I have happiness too.

I found it in that amazing girl a while back,
When I was kicking rocks down the train track.
I looked up and saw a beautiful smile,
And the sun shone on her beautiful face all the while.

For the first time in years, I smiled for real.
She took my hand, oh the love I did feel.
We walked on and on, mile by mile,
And the entire time we looked ahead with a smile.

My heart melted when her lips touched mine.
My pain and sadness was gone, everything felt fine.
I was reborn from that moment on,
No longer did I feel like just a pawn.

So you see friend, no matter what you do,
You can't hurt me, my feelings are still brand new.
The frown I showed was really the fake all along.
The pain you thought I had was also wrong.

Once again, I fool you and everyone.
My smile is real, for my feelings have been won.
I ask one last time for your sake,
Be my friend or be a fake?

A smile can hold so much meaning.
A frown can bring down everything.
I watched from the darkness for so long,
But now I have turned this tale into a beautiful song.

    ~Waltz of the Living Night~

Come sit down right in front me,
Next to this roaring fire, I will tell you,
A tale that will surely seem scary.
You ask why I smirk, but you haven't a clue.

The fire twists and dances in its true elegance,
While I fold my hands, piercing your soul with my gaze.
This tale I will tell, it holds no source of eloquence.
After I'm through, your mind will be in such a haze.

I begin my tale as your breath leaves your lungs.
My smirk widens in your incredible terror,
My mannerism changes, now speaking in strange tongues.
Listening to this deathly tale was your biggest error.

Now I have you under my torturous hypnosis
And my tale unfolds further, nature bending in fear.
I am not nature, killing you slowly is my basis.
Scream all you want, for no one will be able to hear.

My tale draws to an end, you notice something odd.
My teeth become sharp, sharp to a point.
Your eyes widen, you realize now there is no god
But you see, my tale did not disappoint.

The blood slowly trickles down my face,
From where it came, you know not.
Nature has left, all of it in its grace.
The moment I told my tale, I had you caught.

My growl pierces through the still night air,
While your body trembles in unimaginable intensity.
Seeing your inevitable death, leaves you helpless and bare.
I slowly rise, in a lust of incredible propensity.

Your skin looks so soft and smooth,
But it is a shame it must be ripped apart
By my claw, nail, and tooth.
I will make it quick, your time to depart.

Suddenly a light flashes before your eyes.
You know it is time, your life has burned out.
I suck your blood while your body dies.
Now you realize before you go, there is no more doubt.

I was your death, the tale I told all along.
Nature betrayed you, so go now to the light.
My charm, my hypnosis, was the tale, the song.
You are gone, my deed is done, I now vanish into the night.
