About 3 years ago I bought this:
Newegg.com - Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model BL2KIT12864AA80A
All the reviews now are almost 100% negative. I went with it because they were on sale for $30 and they had Cas Latency 4 but was 2gb of ram so looked like a good deal. Anyway, I think they crash my computer every time I start it up but I have no way of knowing that for sure, though I'm 90% sure it's them. But that's not my question. My question is like, why the fuck are they still almost $50? Is there anywhere I can get 2 1gb sticks of 240 pin DDR2 for less than I paid for three years ago? Like, what the fuck they were out of date when I bought them and today they're still the same price...
Also, if I go with another brand, would it matter if the CAS Latency was different? If you go for 5 or 6 they are cheaper, but will it mess with these whose latency is 4? (4, 4, 4, 12)
